Hi, I’m Emily! I’m an iOS Engineer based in Portland, Oregon.

I build apps in Swift, SwiftUI, and Objective-C. I use Python and shell scripting for creating automations and tools. But most of all I enjoy tinkering and learning new technologies.

Currently I am available to work remotely or onsite in the PNW. Please reach out to me via the Contact page if you’d like to connect and find out whether I would be a fit for your company or project.

My app Barbell Math is available in the App Store for download now. This tool helps the user do calculations to load a barbell to a given weight with various configurations of plates. You can check out the source code for this project on GitHub.

Some of my other recent projects include:

  • Creating a python tool for Portland Integrative Fitness to process and reformat workout templates stored in Google Sheets

  • Building “Just-for-fun” iOS apps like Drink Generator and Boxing Scheduler

  • Contributing a release automation script to the open source Python package tldextract

  • Undertaking a data analysis project on my personal “quantified self” data so that I can create an SQLite database of my own time-tracking data from the last 5+ years

  • Programming shortcuts into NFC tags

You can read more about many of my projects on my Portfolio page and follow my progress on GitHub or Twitter.

In my previous lifetime I owned and ran Bold & Badass Fitness, a powerlifting gym focused on providing a body-positive, queer-friendly, and inclusive fitness community. Before that, I was a world-ranked professional MMA fighter signed to Invicta Fighting Championships. Even farther back? I helped non-profits fundraise to help critical services get to where they were needed most.

For more on my past lives, check out my Press page.

When I’m not writing code I can be found powerlifting, boxing, reading a book, rewatching a Star Trek episode, or checking out new food cart or tiki bar.

I am a Reed College graduate, class of 2010.
